The Victoria Square project has been created by Rick Lowe and Maria Papadimitriou for Documenta 2017 in Athens. It’s the only project that still exists from it. I discovered this place during the(Un)learning from Athens studio school and wanted to come back and see how this kind of project was being kept alive. During these two months, I helped across a range of design and organizational tasks like producing posters, social media event covers, gifs.
During my last three weeks of volunteering I ran a model workshop called « What is the city made of ? » with children from the neighborhood and Elea’s refugee camp. I began showing them images of architectural and urban Athenian typologies, which they interpreted to develop their proper imaginary. They ended up creating many little models, from basic house to temples, tunnels and soccer fields, depending on their own interests. I redrawn every result of the workshop and printed a booklet for them.
